Managing large figures

Abstract

Sometimes a document may require the insertion of very large images, such that the best solution might be to insert them so as to occupy a full two page spread without leaving any internal margin. Depending on the image aspect ratio it might be preferable to look for other solutions. It looks a simple problem, but the aspect ratio of the original image may set forth some problems that require special treatment. With package swfigure described in this paper we try to create a single command or environment that can handle several display modes.
